Usage

In order to embed a video, create a new post/page and use the following shortcode:

[flowplayer src="http://example.com/wp-content/uploads/videos/test.mp4"]

here, src is the actual source of your mp4 video file.

In addition to the source mp4 video file, you can also specify a webm video file. This step is optional since mp4 video format is supported by almost all major browsers.

[flowplayer src="http://example.com/wp-content/uploads/videos/test.mp4" webm="http://example.com/wp-content/uploads/videos/test.webm"]

Poster Image

If you want to show an image as placeholder before the video plays, you can specify it in the “poster” parameter:

[flowplayer src="http://example.com/wp-content/uploads/videos/test.mp4" poster="http://example.com/wp-content/uploads/images/poster.jpg"]

Autoplay Video

If you want a particular video to start playing when the page loads you can set the “autoplay” option to “true”:

[flowplayer src="http://example.com/wp-content/uploads/videos/test.mp4" autoplay="true"]

Player Size

By default, the player takes up the full width of the content area. You can easily control the size by specifying a width for it:

[flowplayer src="http://example.com/wp-content/uploads/videos/test.mp4" width="500"]

The height will be automatically determined based on the ratio (please see the “Control Player Ratio section” for details).

Player Ratio

The player ratio is set to “0.417” by default. But you can override it by specifying a different ratio in the shortcode:

[flowplayer src="http://example.com/wp-content/uploads/videos/test.mp4" ratio="0.345"]

Loop Video

If you want a particular video to start playing again when it ends you can set the “loop” option to “true”:

[flowplayer src="http://example.com/wp-content/uploads/videos/test.mp4" loop="true"]

For the web page from a PC this worked really well. But the autoplay didn’t work for iPhone (safari or chrome) Secondly, it puts a “FlowPlayer” logo onto the screen that is very intrusive for mobile devices. Going to look for another plugin.

More useful and beautiful UI than almost every other similar plug-in, only one thing how can I get rid of the watermark, is there a pro version to purchase 🙂

As an old aged Wordpress beginner, getting most plugins/widgets to work is the same as banging my head against the wall. This was the first video player I got to work, as soon as I figured out to replace the sample in the shortcut with my own URL. Works exactly as I want it to! Thank you! Carry on…..

Works well with little config. I have used this for a number of different format videos with no problems. The only slight niggle I have is that the video ratio is entered counter-intuitively as a fraction, rather than a width/height ratio. So 16:9 video is set up using a ratio of 0.56 rather than 1.77. It’s a small thing – and I did not have any problems once I realized how to calculate this. It’s just that video ratios are normally expressed the other way around … 🙂 Having said that, this is unintrusive and has worked for everything I have thrown at it so far. So may thanks for the plugin!

This is the kind plugin I was looking for. Since the implementation of Flowplayer in a WP based site with the official documentation is not really clear (in my opinion), I was looking for a clean way to provide a shortcode and this plugin does the job. It is : – Simple enough to be installed & used – And not too complex to be easily customized or embedded into a custom dev Though, FAQ and Installation Tabs (on Wordpress.org) could use a better explanation. Nice work.
